Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is located on the southwest corner of Memorial Park at 4501 Woodway Drive. There was also a new entrance recently constructed known as the 610 entrance. This entrance into the center is located at 120 West Loop North on the 610 West northbound feeder that is located just south of Woodway Drive.

Both entrances are currently open to the public, but it is highly suggested for delivery and service vehicles to enter through the 610 entrance. If you are going to make a visit to the park there are a number of things that you need to know beforehand.

Consider Parking

First, you need to know that parking is available at both the 610 entrance and the Woodway entrance. However, the parking is severely limited and tends to fill up rather quickly during the weekend. Schools that or large groups that are visiting the area need to know that there is school bus parking located on the 610 parking loop.

This area is usually limited only to school tours or other large tour groups. Earlier this year the center instituted paid parking at both the Woodway and 610 entrance.

The Admission Fees

Although there is no paid parking, it should be noted that the trails are free and there is no admission fees for other activities. This is because the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a non-profit organization that wants to help maintain trails and wildlife habitat.

The grounds are open seven days a week from 7 am to dusk. However, there is another section of the center that houses the Discovery Room, Nature shop, classrooms, and offices. This section of the center is open daily from 9 am to 5. The grounds is usually closed during national holidays and offers special programs for schools and scout groups that call ahead of time.
